I am Kate: The Muddled Mum. This is my blog which documents how I have been making it through the muddle. This blog covers my experiences with miscarriage, mental health and all things motherhood.
I eagerly awaited motherhood; I longed for it. So imagine my surprise when pregnancy left me ill and isolated, and early motherhood left me in a fog of depression. I fought hard to get well again but struggled with my change in identity. I wasn’t the mum I thought I would be, but I also wasn’t the person I used to be. So again I fought to find my happiness – to find the new me. Eventually I was finally feeling like I knew what I was doing, so we decided it was time to give our daughter a sibling. But I miscarried. Twice (and then more times after that). After the challenges that had been thrown my way, this was the straw that broke the camels back. I found myself in a dark pit of depression and my chest was caged in anxiety. My blog was born in my time of need. My blog rescued me from a very dark place. It saw me through a mental health crisis. It helped me heal.
